The Amazing Benefits of Dark Chocolate

For all you chocolate lovers

Dark chocolate, you either love or hate it! I am a huge fan, but I look for organic brands made with low sugar and a high cocoa content. Look for chocolate with at least 70%. Dark chocolate is full of nutrients that are good for our health. It is rich in antioxidants, which help to protect against cell damage and reduce free radicals. Polyphenols and flavonoids may help lower some forms of cholesterol, too. The compounds in dark chocolate are highly protective against the oxidation of LDL, which means that less cholesterol will lodge in the arteries, which is better for our heart. Dark chocolate also improves blood flow to our skin, protects it from sun damage, and may help lower blood pressure. It helps with our mood and gives us a little kick of caffeine. Don’t overdo it, as dark chocolate contains sugar, but eating just one or two squares a day will provide fantastic health benefits.

Some of my favorites are Theo, Hu, and Blue Stripes!! Check them out. I also love Organic Traditions cacao almonds for a little treat. I eat them daily, but only about 4 or 5. I love ChocXO chocolate-covered almonds as well. They have very low sugar.
