Dark Chocolate Turtles
These chocolate turtles will not last in your fridge. They are so tasty they will make your mouth water, and everyone in your house will devour them. They are easy to make, salty and sweet and will meet everyone's dietary needs. They are gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, and vegan. There are many options for nut butter so choose the one you like best. I usually use almond butter, but they all contain healthy and fats, protein, and fibre and have a mix of nutrients.
Ingredients:
Ten pitted Medjool dates (if you have extra caramel, use more)
1 tbsp of organic almond butter
1/2 tsp coconut oil
Organic pecans
1/2 cup of organic dark chocolate chips
A pinch of Himalayan sea salt to sprinkle on top
Directions:
Mix the dates and almond butter in a food processor. Pulse until a ball forms. Remove the date ball from the food processor and make 12 or more petite balls with your hands. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place four pecan halves down onto each corner of the ball and push down to flatten it. Make sure you press them hard enough to stick and to stay in place. Turn the ball over. In a saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil on low heat and stir continuously. Spoon a little onto each date and sprinkle with sea salt and our OG granola. Place the turtles in the freezer to harden. When they are ready, store them in an air tight container and keep them in the fridge. I promise you, they will not last!
